In Module 2, you will refine your skills and apply them to more complex health challenges. This module covers the following content:

  • Philosophical evolution of yoga and applying advanced principles of yoga philosophy
  • Yoga wisdom as the basis for client assessment, planning, and delivery of yoga therapy
  • Complex case assessment, analysis and skills refinement
  • Adaptation and progression of therapeutic asana; techniques and skills
  • Pranayama, meditation, relaxation and mindfulness skills development and practice integration
  • Medical aspects of and yoga therapy tools for chronic illnesses and lifestyle diseases; such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis,cardiopulmonary diseases, and diabetes
  • Neurological conditions, functional capacities and the advanced yoga therapeutics
  • Chronic pain including back pain, fibromyalgia, and peripheral neuropathy; comorbid substance use disorder and advanced yoga therapy application
  • Yoga therapy for cancer patients in treatment and recovery
  • Psycho-emotional aspects of physical conditions, and their impact on the yoga therapy process
  • Pelvic floor disorders and supporting pelvic floor health through specific yoga therapy techniques
  • Fascial health, structural balance and core centered movement principles
  • Trauma sensitive approach to yoga therapy
  • Individualized yoga therapy to support addiction recovery and relapse
  • Advanced Ayurvedic lifestyle approaches to health and wellness
  • Ethical principles, client centered approach to yoga therapy, and working with diverse populations
  • The science of lifestyle behavior change and coaching client success
  • Yoga in healthcare and directions in research
  • The business of yoga therapy


  • There will be a total of 112 hours of online modules delivered via 50 Zoom meetings ( over the course of Module 2. These online lessons will take place on Tuesday evenings from 4:00-6:00 pm, Central Standard Time. These online sessions will include all Yoga Therapy faculty, and help to integrate content covered during Module 2 and introduce new material.

  • Zoom is an interactive, online environment that feels very much like an in-person class. Participants are able to see and interact with everyone attending the class, including raising your hand, asking verbal questions, and sending written messages/chats to others. Participants are asked to arrange their schedule so that they can be present, relaxed, focused, and able to fully participate in these classes.

  • Each class will be recorded and available for viewing up to 45 days after the class in the event that a participant is not able to attend in real time.
