Ashtanga Yoga: Beyond the Mat with Rachel

This workshop will include a full led primary practice and a short pranayama (breath) practice.  After our practice we will have time for discussion about the history and philosophy behind Ashtanga as well and time for general questions and answers.  All recent graduates of the beginners series, or seasoned students, are welcome to attend.

Arm Balances and Hip Openers with Mandy

We will explore hip openers as a means to connect to the earth and use that dynamic connection to find freedom and lightness as we take flight. A wide range of balancing poses will be introduced to develop equilibrium and encourage a sense of freedom in action. This class will explore the dynamic between inner and outer strength that can help bring these challenging poses alive! Workshop students should have no serious illnesses or injury and should be able to hold downward facing dog for some duration. Some Hatha experience is required.

Gentle Yoga: Stretching with the Breath with Kewal S

Deepen your awareness of the pulsation of life within you and all around you as we go into deep forward bends and twists guided by the Anusara Universal Principles of Alignment. Pranayama, the management of breath, will be incorporated through the practice to further deepen your awareness of this pulsation. Some hatha experience is recommended.

Yoga Nidra is the practice of Yogic Sleep, a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation, while maintaining awareness at the deeper levels. It is much more than deep relaxation or guided meditation; it is a total experience that touches and awakens all parts of your being. Join us as we experience Yoga Nidra and learn the benefits of a Yogic Sleep. All levels are welcome. There is no need to bring a mat, but if you have yoga blankets or props of your own feel free to bring them.

This workshop is designed to give students an introduction to a variety of yoga styles. Following a gentle warmup, "Mini-Classes" in the Hatha, Ashtanga, and Kundalini traditions will be taught to provide a frame of reference for students who are curious about the differences in the experience of each style. Restorative postures will be used during the relaxation period. This educational workshop is appropriate for all levels.

Open Your Heart with Sandra

Creating space for our heart to open is a physical and emotional experience. This Hatha Yoga workshop is designed to access the energy in Anahata Chakra, the heart center, and to help it open and expand. We will focus on backbends—powerful heart openers. We will also discuss the energetic effects and benefits of accessing the energy stored in the heart through yoga postures. Some Hatha Yoga experience is recommended for this workshop.

The Literature of Yoga: Understanding the Yoga Sutras with Ellen

This workshop welcomes students who seek to understand and get a clearer perspective of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. This ancient and important work is a guideline still used today for the study of yoga according to the eight-limbed path. This workshop includes some history of the text and begins to answer the question of what the Sutras mean and their different interpretations.
