Thanks
for the Yoga... and Everything Else!
By Mehtab, Yoga Yoga Founder
Thanksgiving
is my favorite holiday. Take away high stress family dramas and sweet
potato casseroles with those scary miniature marshmallows, all you have
left is a very important yogic principle: Gratitude.
Being
thankful, being grateful, is the fundamental foundation of a yoga practice
and indeed a happy life.
When
you are grateful for each yoga class, each posture, each relaxation, and
each breath you take, you create a powerful healing attitude that carries
over into your life so that every day becomes a gift.
My
teacher Yogi Bhajan always said, "If you want to be great, be
grateful." Here is what will happen to you if you use your yoga
practice to cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude.

Say
Yes to a Healthier, Happier Back
Yoga
Yoga's Personalized Self-Care Program for Chronic Low Back Pain incorporates
specifically designed techniques and systematic approaches that are key
to creating a healthy low back.
Here's
what one student had to say about the program:
I
have improved mentally and physically since I am not always in pain.
I also have tools to relieve the pain when it comes. I was using anti-inflammatory
and muscle relaxers daily. Now I rarely use either. - Gerry

Have
you taken a class with Alyson?
Yoga Yoga's Teacher Coordinator, Lori McDougall, had a chance
to sit down with Alyson this week. Alyson manages both our North
and Northwest locations. She is a long term yoga practitioner
and long-term employee of Yoga Yoga. Alyson is a graduate of Yoga
Yoga's Kundalini
Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Lori:
Alyson, tell me about your first yoga
class.
Alyson: Well, my first yoga class was with you!
Lori: WHOOOOOOO- this is already the best interview ever.
Alyson: It was a Hatha Yoga class in the big room at North in
2001.
Lori: Ok, now I don't want to ask you about the class because
I taught it, and it was in 2001, and I was a "new" teacher,
at best. But, apparently you liked it enough to come back. Tell
me when you took your first Kundalini Yoga class?
Alyson:
Well, it was with you.
Lori:
Best interview ever!
Alyson: I remember that I had a 12 class pass, or something,
I came, then I came 2 days later, then I bought an unlimited. I
was just doing Hatha Yoga at first.
|
 |
Soon
I started going every day. I tried a restorative class, and then
one day I went to the front desk and I was like, okay, I have tried
hatha and restorative, now I want to try Kundalini Yoga, what is
it all about? The girl at the desk looked at me and she said "Well,
how freaked out do you want to be?" I thought, "Yes I
am going to this class."
So
I went to your Kundalini Yoga class and I remembered thinking, "What
was that?" I felt great, so I just kept coming back. For the
next year and a half, I practiced every day, either a Kundalini
class or a Hatha class.
One
day I walked out of Mehtab's class and I remember having the overwhelming
feeling that everything was alright. That is why I kept going back
to class.
