In our society, there is a constant push for more; to run longer, to be “better” and even to push further in yoga. One of the greatest gifts we can give our students is the ability to honor their bodies and stay within safe limits. In this course, advance your teaching by exploring ways to communicate to your students the benefits of being present and listening to what the body has to say. Learn how to keep students safe in a yoga practice through understanding the principles of the anatomy of movement.

APPLY
the principles of the anatomy of movement to yoga asanas.

DEVELOP
an awareness of common yoga injuries and ways to prevent these injuries from occurring in class.

DISCERN
the common mistakes students make that create injuries.

LEARN
how to make your students more responsible for their safety through self-education.

DISCOVER
how alignment and movement may vary widely from student to student.

UNDERSTAND
the power of emphasizing individual function over ideal form.

GIVE
suggestions, modifications and assists to keep students safe.

Prerequisites:
Completion of a yoga teacher-training course.

Mark Uridel, MSPT, RYT brings 20 years of training and experience in physical therapy, anatomy and yoga. Mark has a BS in Kinesiology with High Honors from UT Austin and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Old Dominion. Mark trained in various forms of yoga over the past 18 years including the Iyengar and Ashtanga traditions. Mark is a Licensed Physical Therapist and Massage Therapist with 18 years of experience. He is a Certified Kinesiology and Pilates Instructor as well as a Registered Yoga Teacher. Mark’s focus on movement, breath and alignment teaches yoga as an internal practice and empowers students to listen to their inner guru and develop their own yoga practice.
