Eduardo Wayo Menachem Ramirez took his first yoga class in college—an Intermediate Hatha Flow that left him eager to explore more. In Austin a few years later, he earned his 200-hour teacher certification and began teaching on the 4th of July, 2004. Around this time, Eduardo enrolled in a 5-day Viniyoga workshop with Gary Kraftsow and was immediately drawn to the breadth and depth of Kraftsow's teachings. He took the 500-hour Viniyoga Teacher Training Course and developed a particular passion for Sanskrit chanting and the role of sound in asana. He continues to study Sanskrit with Manorama. Eduardo’s teaching is rooted in the principles of Viniyoga. He is deeply connected to the lineage of T.K.V. Desikachar as taught by Gary Kraftsow, Chase Bossart and Leslie Kaminoff. Additional training includes Vinyasa Flow with Seane Corn and Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater.

Eduardo brings this background to his classes and to his role as a trainer of teachers at the 200-hour level.

In his Hatha classes, Eduardo will teach you to consciously connect the movement of the breath with the movement of the body. Postures are approached with purpose and with a constant awareness of the joints and muscles. The use of repetition and holding are combined to effectively stretch and strengthen the body. With patience and humor, he is effective in helping students discover a balance between fluidity and structural stability.

In his Hatha Flow classes, expect a dynamic practice in which asanas (yoga postures) are intelligently sequenced in a breath-centered flow to strengthen the core and build spinal flexibility.  In this approach, the practitioner moves mindfully through postures with a focus on maintaining base form.

The Hatha and Hatha Flow classes may incorporate seated breathing techniques, sound and meditation—all of which bring about a balance and reintegration of body, breath and mind.

Aside from group classes, Eduardo works individually in a therapeutic context to help people improve conditions such as back pain, knee and shoulder issues. Private sessions can be an opportunity to refine your understanding of asana or develop a personal practice.

It is Eduardo’s hope that students feel better after their practice and begin to develop a relationship with a sense of overall wellness and healing.
