Rhonda, a.k.a. "Uma’s mama," took her first yoga class in 1997 and began teaching in 2002. Her teaching is grounded in the Ashtanga/Vinyasa tradition, opening and expanding from there.
In 2005 Rhonda and her husband Steven traveled to Mysore, India for three months to study with Pattabhi Jois and film a documentary on Ashtanga yoga. The film is currently on hiatus while they figure out how to raise their daughter and edit the film at the same time.
Rhonda's principle teacher is Richard Freeman and she taught at his studio, the Yoga Workshop, prior to moving to Austin. She enjoys teaching a strong class that is empowering, mindful and emphasizes the meditative flow. Through life’s joys and obstacles Rhonda continues to be grateful to get on the mat and knock at the door of self-discovery.
Check out Rhonda's prenatal yoga demo video on YouTube. It was filmed three days before the birth of her daughter. She's 41 weeks pregnant.
