Pamela sees the practice on the mat as preparation for our true practice in life off the mat as we move through the world. She teaches her Hatha Flow classes as a meditation in movement. Pamela accomplishes this by building upon a fundamental sequence of poses and sprinkling in asanas related to the theme or focus of each class. She works to assist her students in shedding the labels, attachments and judgments heaped upon them in daily life. By doing so she hopes to help them decrease suffering and reconnect with their true Selves. Pamela views yoga as a way to cleanse physically, spiritually, psychologically and emotionally as well as to commune with the divine. She loves to share poetry and quotes that inspire her as well as philosophy from many spiritual teachings.
Having practiced Ashtanga and Kundalini, she now teaches primarily Hatha Flow but also loves the benefits of Restorative yoga! Pamela studied Hatha Yoga through Yoga Yoga’s 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training program, is a Kriya Yoga initiate and a certified Fitness Trainer. She keeps her practice fresh by studying with as many teachers as possible and feels blessed to have the wealth of teachers and traditions to study with at Yoga Yoga. She first developed an interest in yoga at age 4 while watching Lilias Folan on PBS and being enchanted by what she was teaching. She draws inspiration from Sharon Gannon, David Life, Shiva Rea, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and John Friend, and from her fellow teachers such as: Kimberly Jones, Jenn Wooten, Sharon Moon, Brienne Diebolt-Brown and Ana Pilar Cruz. Pamela is inspired by the teachings of Buddha, Jesus Christ, the great Hindu deities and the Dali Lama. She deeply admires and appreciates the writings of Rumi, Hafiz, Kabir and the music of Jai Uttal, Krishna Das, Deva Premal, WAH and many, many others.
Pamela was born and raised in the Southeastern U.S. and has lived in Austin since 2001. She enjoys reading, studying philosophy, religion and history, listening to opera and classical music, art, theater, running, travel, cooking and of course Yoga! She loves yoga because it keeps her connected to her true Self and it has been her greatest teacher in life.
