May is an Anusara-inspired and Vinyasa yoga teacher. She discovered yoga in New York City in 1997, and fell in love with the way moving with breath made her feel: strong, free, and happy. In 2001, she completed her Vinyasa yoga teacher training with Peter Rizzo, a Jivamukti-trained teacher known for his skilled adjustments. She's furthered her studies with John Friend, Lois Nesbitt, Ellen Saltonstall, Julie Dohrman, and other gifted teachers.
May strives to offer her students that same spark that hooked her: a chance to fall in love with the best part of themselves each time they roll out the mat. Her classes combine the flowing energy of Vinyasa with the intelligent alignment and transformative heart-opening of Anusara yoga. She brings to her teaching the therapeutic benefits of Thai Bodywork, a combination of energy line work and assisted stretching sometimes called the "lazy person's yoga". A student of Tibetan Buddhism for five years, May is also a Shambhala meditation guide.
