Hannah came to yoga for the same reasons that many of us find ourselves rolling out a mat for the first time: she wanted to learn to meditate, find inner peace, and become flexible.

Hannah’s first yoga class was through a community college in Santa Cruz, California in 1994. She was seventeen at the time, and left class feeling as though her body were sacred and should be treated with love and respect. She immediately began watching what she ate and paid close attention to her posture and breathing. It was a profound lesson on the power of yoga to change a person in large and small ways, both physical and mental. Some of the hip-openers and breathing exercises that she learned in that class still show up in Hannah’s classes today. To put it another way, she was in love.

Originally from Los Angeles, Hannah discovered Austin while her band was playing during SXSW in 2003. A year later she and her husband Damon packed up their pets and moved to Austin. Hannah had been practicing yoga for a while by that point, but had never really connected with a teacher in Los Angeles and her practice had become sporadic. When she came to Yoga Yoga she found several inspirational teachers and she was hooked once again.

In August 2007 Hannah completed Yoga Yoga’s 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training program. During that course Hannah explored different styles of yoga and came to feel a strong connection to the individualized aspects of Viniyoga and the heart-centeredness of the Anusara tradition and plans on studying them further. She also dove into Prenatal Yoga studies, having started her own first pregnancy. "I took prenatal throughout my pregnancy and it's such a special way to tune into to your baby, your body and emotions during this miraculous time. It is also a great way to connect with other moms-to-be. I'm friends with several mamas from my class still." In Hannah’s classes, students can expect to tune into their own voice and surrender to the power within. Be prepared to have fun, and to engage your mind, body and breath.

The lifetime of teachings that are out there continue to reinvigorate Hannah’s commitment to yoga. She is happily addicted to the peaceful, happy feeling she gets after practicing. Hannah can be seen singing and playing guitar around town, and bopping around with her daughter, Emalina Moon Williams.
