DeLora Frederickson

DeLora was raised in El Paso, and moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas (and get a break from the dry, desert heat). She studied deaf education and graduated with a degree in speech. She then embarked on a tour of the United States. In 1991 she landed back in Austin and has been here ever since.

DeLora has taken extensive training to teach yoga to students at all stages of life. In Yoga Yoga Teacher Training she completed Level One and Level Two Kundalini training and is currently taking the Flow-Based Hatha program. For children's yoga, DeLora graduated from the renowned Radiant Child Yoga Program, Levels One and Two. She also completed Pre- and Postnatal Training with Om Mama and Leslie Lytle. In 2009, she completed Judith Lasater's Relax and Renew Restorative Yoga training. You'll find her teaching a variety of classes on our schedule, and helping out in other ways around the studios.

DeLora's classes focus on fostering a connection with the divine within each of us by raising students’ awareness of their own beauty, strength, and radiance. Her postnatal classes utilize pranayama and meditation to support new mothers with all of the physical, mental, and spiritual challenges that they're facing. Each class includes time for mom and baby to connect through yoga.

It was the spiritual aspect of yoga that attracted DeLora to the practice. In her teaching, DeLora observes the power of yoga for humans at every stage, "from babies in the womb to folks passing from this life." Meditation, pranayama (conscious breath), and ahimsa (compassion for all life) have lead DeLora to bring yoga into every aspect of her own life.

DeLora is also inspired by the music of Snatam Kaur, and the wit and generosity of Mehtab and Guru Karam, the founders of Yoga Yoga. Master Vinyasa Flow teacher Seane Corn has also influenced DeLora tremendously. She says of Corn, "her beauty radiates through her teaching and her daily practice of Seva is inspirational!"

DeLora's hobbies include gardening, dancing, hanging out with friends, playing with her dog Shekinah, and enjoying the beauty of central Texas.
