Sarah attended her first yoga class in 1998 after seeing a flyer at her workplace. She was, at the time, recovering from a back injury and looking for a way to stretch and relax. "Afterward, I felt alive yet relaxed and convinced that yoga would remain in my life." She was instantly hooked. She loves yoga for all its transformative powers, physical and otherwise.
In 2004 she graduated from Yoga Yoga's Hatha Teacher Training program. She became a certified Pre- and Post-natal yoga teacher through OmMama Yoga with Leslie Lytle.
In Sarah's Pre & Postnatal Yoga classes, students can look forward to feeling connected with a community of women all going through the same life-changing experience, and, in both types of class, feeling connected with their growing baby. Class focuses on finding stillness in the mind by developing an awareness of the breath, and using supportive postures to nurture openness in the body. In Prenatal classes Sarah guides students in postures that can ease discomforts of pregnancy, and meditations that help them find empowerment for giving birth. In Postnatal classes students reconnect and strengthen the postpartum body, take time to bond with other new parents, and learn how yoga can benefit the baby.
Sarah maintains a dedicated personal yoga practice that nourishes her teaching and her life. "I'm inspired by being surrounded by our yoga community," she says. She also loves expanding her knowledge and experience by attending workshops, and tuning in by listening to yoga music. Some of her most influential teachers have been Jessica Montgomery, Sharon Moon, Leslie Lytle, and Kimberly Wilson.
When she isn't teaching, Sarah enjoys spending time with her daughter, husband, and golden retriever Ben. She and her husband settled in Austin 9 years ago. They jump at every opportunity to visit awe-inspiring natural settings like Yosemite National Park.
