Abigayle was reluctant to go to her first yoga class. As a personal trainer and competitive body builder, she was very athletic, but not flexible. She had injured her rotator cuff during a bad bench press, and nothing seemed to be helping. Physical Therapy wasn’t working, and Abigayle was in constant pain. When her friend, a yoga teacher, suggested she try one of her classes, Abigayle declined the invitation, saying her body couldn’t do “all that pretzel stuff!”. Her friend laughed and insisted that it would not be a problem.

Alice’s serious study of yoga began when she entered Yoga Yoga Teacher Training in 2002 and became a registered yoga teacher a year later. She has training in Kundalini, Hatha and Prenatal yoga and recently completed training as an Anusara Inspired™ Yoga teacher. Having taught Hatha yoga for years, Alice took an Anusara Yoga™ class one day and was amazed. This tradition has deeply affected both her personal practice and her teaching.

Alyson was introduced to Kundalini yoga in 2001 as a way to make a positive change to her own life. She went to her first class "just to get some stretching in." Little did she know, it was going to make her feel happier, healthier, and ignite her Higher Self to live an extremely fulfilled life.

Amy

Amy is a 200-hour certified Hatha Yoga instructor, registered and insured with Yoga Alliance. She began her practice in 2001 with Rodney Yee videos recommended to her by a massage therapist. As her home practice grew stronger, she knew she needed a public class with a live instructor to help her with alignment and modifications. Angela’s first yoga experience was in the 70's with her mother, Carol Strickler, who has been teaching for more than thirty years. She remembers really liking the “nap” at the end and, in fact, believes the world would be a better place if we could all take a collective nap.

Ari

Arianne (Ari) Stiles was only three years old when she took her first yoga and meditation class at Yogananda's Self-Realization Fellowship Temple in Phoenix. Thirty-something years later, Ari returned to yoga to recover from an injury and from personal loss. And then she kept coming back, even after she got better.

The practice of yoga has been a powerful force in Beth’s life since 1999. She was first amazed at the physical effects of an asana practice on the body, but has since learned that yoga goes much deeper—it has the power to transform not only our bodies, but also our habits, and therefore, our destiny.

Beth L. was born and raised in Austin. She likes to sing, dance, do karaoke (she is a three-time champion), ride her bike and jog with her dog, Bruce Banner. Her favorite local hangout is Barton Springs and one day she would like to travel to India.

A practitioner of Hatha yoga since 1995 and Kundalini yoga since 2008, Billy has an ever‐expanding appetite for yogic philosophy and Vedic astrology. In addition to the seasons, he looks to lunar nakshatras as the basis for thematically weaving together practice and philosophy for both his Hatha and Kundalini classes.

Amrit Dev (Brandon) attended his first Kundalini Yoga class looking for a way to get a little exercise and relieve some stress.  He was immediately hooked on deep breathing and the sound of the gong, and soon discovered an affinity for the spiritual aspect of the practice.  He has completed Yoga Yoga’s 200-hour Kundalini Teacher Training program and is continuing his studies through the Level 2 Kundalini modules.  He feels blessed to be a part of such a large and wonderful yoga community.

Born and raised in Idaho, Brock grew up loving the outdoors, snowboarding, and playing soccer. He has studied several martial arts, including Wing Chun kung fu, Tai chi, Chi Kung (Qigong), and Aikido, though he discovered yoga as a way to deepen his Vipassana meditation practice. After sitting in meditation for long periods of time, the agony his body felt was enough for him to seek relief, and he felt that yoga reflected a similar mentality. “Yoga is my moving meditation to prepare me for my still meditation.”

Charlie was practicing Bikram yoga every day for two years when he stumbled into Kundalini. After two months of this practice, a high contrast to Bikram, he knew he wanted to teach. The Anusara method, which combines spiritual endeavor with physical work, was a perfect mix. Today, teaching keeps Charlie engaged in yoga. In his Hatha Star classes, students who are new to yoga will get to experience the physical work of Hatha postures. But Charlie also emphasizes the ways that yoga works in our lives beyond the mat. "We must ground our spirituality in real life."
