Mantra
Yoga (the Yoga of Sound)

The ancient Rishi's or sages found that of all stimuli, sound had the
most profound effect on the mind. Mantra's are used for concentration
and transformation. Simple sounds from the Sanskrit alphabet (japa)
and more elaborate mantras are chanted to obtain benefits ranging from
improved emotional health to experiencing visions of the infinite.

Yoga Sutras

The Yoga Sutras are the foundation for all the teachings of Yoga. This
ancient philosophical text contains all the wisdom and philosophy of
yoga and has been studied for hundreds of years. Srivatsa Ramaswami
has spent his entire life with the Sutras and is recognized as one of
the greatest living authorities. His recordings of the chanted sutras
are held in the highest regard in India.

Introduction
to Vinyasakrama Yoga

Learn the basic elements of classical Vinyasakrama - a comprehensive approach
to Yoga, utilizing sequenced poses, mantra (sound), pranayama (breathing)
and meditation. Srivatsa Ramaswami will take you through basic Hatha postures
linked with slow, deep breathing, creating mental focus and a deep, physical
calm. Suitable for all levels.

Your Practice: Visheha Vinyasa

Explore yoga and movement beyond the usual classroom experience. In this
class, Srivatsa Ramaswami will lead students through several unusual and
sometimes challenging vinyasa sequences such as Salutations to the Directions,

Srivatsa
Ramaswami, a yoga master from Chennai,
India, was the longest standing student of the legendary Sri Krishnamacharya
outside the Masters immediate family. For over 30 years, he studied
vinyasa krama, pranayama, meditation, vedic chanting, and important Yoga-related
texts like the Yoga Sutras.
Srivatsa
Ramaswami has been teaching Yoga worldwide for more than 20 years and
has used yoga as therapy for a wide range of health challenges. He has
recorded 40 audiocassettes and CDs of Sanskrit chants which are held as
the gold standard for the sutras in India. His books include Yoga for
the Three Stages of Life, Basic Tenets of Patanjala Yoga,
The Complete Book of Vinyasa Yoga and Yoga Beneath the Surface.
He is currently working on a 5th book, tentatively titled Yoga for
the Internal Organs with his gynecologist wife Dr. Uma Ramaswami.
