Foundations of Vedic Astrology
with Mehtab

January 16 - February 14
Yoga Yoga North

In ancient India, the yogis used Vedic Astrology, or Jyotish, in combination with the teachings of Yoga to help their students in their practice and personal transformation.

In this comprehensive course over three weekends, you will learn the fundamental principles of Vedic Astrology and how to begin to apply it to your own provided birth chart as well as to the charts of others.

You will learn the language, the concepts, and the principles of one of the world's oldest and most sacred spiritual sciences. You will gain a strong foundation to explore more of Vedic Astrology on your own or begin to pursue certification as a Vedic Astrologer.

  • The significations and roles of the nine planets and how they function in the birth chart
  • The properties and qualities of the 12 signs of the Zodiac and how they influence the planets and individual consciousness
  • The nature of the 12 houses in the chart and how they impact the major areas of our lives (health, relationships, career, spirituality)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know anything about astrology to take this course?
No, this course starts with the basics and gives you all the information you need in a structured format to accelerate your learning in a supported fashion.

Is this course the same as other astrology courses you have offered?
No, this is a completely new course designed to instruct you in both the foundation and refinements of Vedic Astrology regardless of your previous learning background. While some information may be familiar from other workshops, this training is designed for students who may want to eventually become certified as a Vedic Astrologer or just simply want to go much deeper than is possible in shorter workshops. You will learn lots of new things about yourself and astrology!

Will this course count toward certification as a Vedic Astrologer? How?
Yes, the hours in this course are approved to count as part of your prerequisite hours you have to complete before you take the national certification exam. The path to certification generally takes at least one to two years, but this course is the perfect first step. You will actually be given study questions similar to what usually appears on the exam. In addition, we will go over the process to follow if you want to pursue certification.

How does this course relate to the other course you are offering later this year: Yoga, Ayurveda and Joytish?
While it is possible to take the other course on Astrology, Yoga and Ayurveda independently of this course, this course gives you an excellent foundation for applying the principles you will learn in the second course. There is little duplication of information between the two courses. Both are designed to give you a great start toward in-depth learning and certification.

How much time do we spend working with our own personal birth charts?
Every class you will use what we are learning in relation to your personal birth chart that you receive at the beginning of the course.
