Yoga
and Tantric Dance
Saturday, March 27, 12:30 - 4:30 PM
Sunday, March 28, 12:30 - 4:30 PM
Amrita Choudhury will bring
ancient Indian Philosophy to life in this spiritually inspiring and
soulfully uplifting weekend.
Learn and practice various mudras (hand positions), body positions, feet positions and eye movements to experience their powerful therapeutic benefits. These movements will begin to flow together in an exploration of the aspects of Shiva and Shakti. Experience the healing nature of the sacred postures and dance, inspired by 3000-year-old practices of Sacred Dance and Yoga. Each day will end with a graceful flowing meditation using mudras and movement.
Yoga
and Indian dance are inseparable. It is believed that the sacred scriptures
were handed down to us through expression, movement, and rhythm of
dance by the gods and goddesses. The sacred Yogic postures and mudras
(symbolic hand gestures) flow from one posture to another smoothly
like dance. Slow and fast rhythmic music is used to help position
the postures. Proper yogic breathing, ancient sacred mantra and meditation
concludes this wonderful form of Yoga dance. The weekend
is designed for both women and men, no yoga or dance experience necessary.
All are welcome.
Cost:
$75 each day ($95 after March 1)
