Yoga Hosts Ayurvedic Physician Robert Svoboda
A Weekend of Health and Consciousness, March 23-25 at Yoga Yoga Westgate
Austin,
Texas - (February 2, 2007) Dr. Robert Svoboda, the first Westerner ever to graduate
from a college of Ayurveda (in 1980) and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in
India, will share information about the Science of Ayurveda during a weekend
of events at Yoga Yoga Westgate, 4477 South Lamar, on March 23-25, 2007. In
addition to a free book signing and lecture, the weekend includes classes that
will cover the basics of Ayurveda, its relationship with Yoga, and the role
of Ayurveda in treating health problems. There is also a workshop for participants
who want to learn how to use the techniques of Ayurveda to improve digestion,
sleep, and mental well-being. For more information, contact Yoga Yoga at (512)
358-1200 or www.yogayoga.com.
Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, is India's traditional system of health
and healing. Translated to mean "science of longevity" or "art
of living," Ayurveda aims to train individuals to evade disease proactively,
rather than insisting that they wait for illness to develop before they take
action. Herbs, massage, yoga, and other products and techniques are used in
Ayurveda with the intent of cleansing the body and restoring balance.
The leading advocate of Ayurveda in the United States, Dr. Svoboda lived in
India from 1973-1980 and 1982-1986 and since 1985 has traveled the world lecturing,
consulting, teaching and writing. The author of eleven books thus far, he serves
as Adjunct Faculty at the Ayurvedic Institute, Albuquerque, NM and Bastyr University,
Kenmore, WA.
