Seton's
GoodHealth Commons Brings Yoga Yoga to Round Rock
Yoga offered at Seton Medical Center Williamson's Integrative Medicine
Center
Round
Rock, Texas (December 29, 2008) - Seton Medical Center Williamson's GoodHealth
Commons is partnering with Yoga Yoga to integrate the benefits of yoga
into healthcare as part of Seton's philosophy of caring for the whole
person - mind, body and spirit.
"We
are excited that the addition of Yoga Yoga classes at GoodHealth Commons
gives Williamson County residents convenient access to a much needed service,"
said A.J. Wagner, manager of GoodHealth Commons. "Yoga aligns with
GoodHealth Common's mission to promote health and wellbeing."
Yoga
Yoga will offer six Hatha Yoga classes at GoodHealth Commons beginning
January 5th, including 10 a.m. classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 6
p.m. classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additional
yoga classes, which focus on specific health conditions, and therapeutically
orientated programs will be added to the schedule in upcoming weeks. For
details on the class schedule and fee information, visit www.goodhealthcommons.com,
www.yogayoga.com or call (512) 381-6435.
Programming
for Yoga Yoga at GoodHealth Commons is a collaborative effort between
Yoga Yoga and YogaSolve, a scientifically-oriented yoga enterprise
providing programs, products and services designed to support individuals
seeking healthier lifestyles and alternative therapeutic modalities.
"A growing body of scientific research studies have shown that people
with a wide variety of health conditions, including back pain, sleep disorders,
arthritis, and breast cancer, can benefit greatly by practicing yoga,"
explained Rich Goldstein, managing partner at Yoga Yoga. "Our goal
in partnering with GoodHealth Commons is to make yoga more accessible
while increasing awareness about yoga's physiological, psychological and
therapeutic applications."
The
integrative approach at Good Health Commons draws on a wide range of expertise
and treatments to stimulate the body's natural healing potential and promote
optimal health and wellbeing. Hatha Yoga, the most widely practiced form
of yoga in the world, uses postures (asana) and conscious breathing (pranayama)
in combination with mental focus to develop awareness, strength, flexibility,
and relaxation. Through proper alignment and mindful actions of the body,
Hatha Yoga brings physical and mental balance and a sense of wellbeing
to the practitioner.
According
to the 2008 Yoga in America study sponsored by Yoga Journal magazine,
15.8 million U.S. adults practice yoga and more than 9 million people
say they intend to try yoga within the next year. The 2008 study also
indicated that almost half of current practitioners started practicing
yoga to improve their overall health. One significant trend to emerge
from the study is the use of yoga as medical therapy. According to the
study, nearly 14 million Americans say that a doctor or therapist has
recommended yoga to them.
GoodHealth
Commons is the first comprehensive, integrative wellness and education
center in Central Texas to offer a centralized location for individuals
looking to broaden their options for health care, improve wellness and
learn vital self-management skills. GoodHealth Commons is an extension
of the continuum of care provided by Seton Medical Center Williamson.
Each practitioner at GoodHealth Commons specializes in specific approaches
to health, and can work together with other practitioners or physicians
to create a personalized program for patients or anyone in the community
seeking these services.
