Experience the anatomy of your hips- those pockets of unfelt, unreleased tension- in a variety of different poses. We'll explore variations of familiar standing poses that get into the glutes, pirformis and other deep rotators, as well as variations on Pigeon Pose -- including restorative and flying varieties. To release the tension, we'll use mindfulness, careful alignment, visualization and pranayama (breath work). This workshop, held from 2:00-4:30pm, will include some discussion, but mostly asana, with guided relaxation and meditation.

Grief can be as defined as our reacton to a major loss, whether it be life, heart-break, or even unexpected life change. We sometimes hold on to grief, or even store it away, causing emotional, as well as physical, discomfort. In this second look at our last exploration, we will re-learn and move deeper through breath, asana, and guided meditation intended to unlock and release whatever is keeping us from living our fullest and most harmonious life.
This workshop will be held from 2:00-4:30pm; it is appropriate for all levels (including beginners).

The emotional ups and downs of our lives can be exhausting and draining.  Many of us have turned to yoga to ‘deal’ with ourselves, including our emotions.  In the Kundalini tradition, women are believed to be 16 times more sensitive than men.  How do we refine our practices to integrate the emotional component of ourselves for spiritual development?

Join Angie Knight in creating a sacred yoga experience with breath, music and movement.  Each chakra has physical, emotional and spiritual components, and represents stages of life and evolution where we are given opportunities to grow and move through rites of initiation.

Workshop

We will embark to co-create a multi-dimensional experience inspired by the heart: the chakra associated with the element of air, sense of touch and action of the hands. Students will be lead first through a guided meditation and relaxation accompanied by the healing sounds of the Native American flute.

Yin Yoga is a healing art in which seated and supine poses are held over several minutes. The practice of Yin Yoga stimulates and opens the energy meridians of the subtle body and releases constrictions in the connective tissues—the muscle fascia in particular.  It has been described as a “needless acupuncture session” for the body. As a whole, this practice promotes a wider range of motion in the joints and flexibility in the muscle tissues. Yoga Nidra, or Yogic Sleep, promotes a deep state of relaxation and ease that shifts the nervous system to a restorative and healing mode.

Each of us is born with a unique constitution that directly affects our digestion. According to the ancient principles of Ayurveda, there is a predictable rationale for why certain foods agree with you and others don't.

It's 1:45—do you know where your spleen is? Knowing more about anatomy can enrich your ability to move safely and gracefully. Come study anatomy from the best resource in the field: your own body and mind. Using the principles of Embodyoga®, a yogic system designed to bring consciousness to all the tissues of the body, we will study the innate wisdom of the body and learn to move from the various body systems individually (i.e.: musculo-skeletal system, the nervous system, the circulatory system and the vestibular system) in order to create greater integration within your yoga practice.

Workshop
Saturday, August 4, 2012

Come get a solid foundation for a personal meditation practice. In this workshop, from 2:00-4:30pm, we will focus on learning traditional approaches to meditation, as well as pranayama tips to establish an ongoing practice, in addition to a few techniques to quiet the mind. We will discuss what meditation is and why we meditate; why mediation is so good for us and how meditation assists us in observing and calming the mind, allowing for us to discover the fundamental truth which waits patiently within. Appropriate for all levels.
