Donna Farhi - Asana Clinic and Intensive September 17 - September 22 Cohesion: Stability as a Source of Equanimity This intensive is an essential investment for Yoga students and teachers wanting to either heal or prevent hypermobility which can be a common cause of chronic pain and injury. Each day of this intensive will be divided into two sessions. In the morning session we will explore finding stability and ease within the practice of asana. We will also investigate how we can elevate the practice of asana to a new level by drawing the mind into a deep state of focused relaxation. The afternoon sessions will incorporate the practice of sitting meditation, restoratives and the ancient practice of Yoga Nidra as a way of finding stability within the heart and mind. There will also be time for philosophical discussion and questions each day. The intensive is suitable for anyone with at least one year of consistent Yoga experience up to teacher level.Cost: $550 ($595 after August 15)
Yoga for Birth and Delivery with Alice Duffy September 18 This fun and experiential three hour class will take you through yoga postures, labor and birth positions and other yogic techniques you can use during the stages of labor. Each stage will be discussed (Early Labor, Active Labor, Transition, Pushing and Post-birth) and each couple will leave with invaluable handouts.Partners will learn specific breath and sound techniques as well as guided relaxation techniques. There will be time for questions, sharing, and the opportunity to interact with other expectant parents. This special event draws many couples, as mothers spread the word to each other. Ayurveda, Yoga and the Five Elements September 28 - November 2 In the Sankhya philosophy, which forms the theoretical basis of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Jyotish, the human body along with everything in the universe is seen as composed of five primary elements: earth, water, fire, air and space. The Five Elements (or “tattvas”) provide a teaching and therapeutic framework for yoga teachers to design classes and for students to develop their own specialized practices. In this training, you will learn the language of the five elements and their relationship to health, consciousness and the practice of yoga and Ayurveda
David Swenson - Ashtanga Yoga Weekend October 1 - October 3 David Swenson began practicing yoga at a very early age and is recognized today as one of the worlds foremost practitioners and instructors of Ashtanga Yoga. David's introduction to Ashtanga came in 1973 when he met David Williams and Nancy Gilgoff in Encinitas, California. In 1975 David and Nancy brought Sri K. Pattabhi Jois to the U.S. for the first time and at that point David then initiated studies directly with the master. Swenson made his first trip to Mysore in 1977 and learned the full Ashtanga system as it was originally taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Today, David teaches thousands of students and teachers worldwide and has produced numerous videos, DVDs, and the popular book Ashtanga Yoga: The Practice Manual. Teaching Yoga to Children with Shakta Kaur Khalsa November 5 - November 8 Radiant Child Yoga Program In this training for teaching yoga to children, you will learn the guidelines for teaching yoga classes to children of all ages including yoga exercises, meditations, yoga songs and games, yoga in motion movements (including games and dances). Special need children issues will also be addressed, including autism, ADD, and SPD.The Radiant Child is the child who is self-aware, who honors the spirit of all, and is naturally dedicated to creating a world of peace. Yoga is a holistic, practical tool toward that end. RCYP participants often include yoga teachers of all traditions, schoolteachers, pediatric therapists, parents and grand- parents. Previous yoga experience is helpful, although not required. Participants gain a wide variety of practical yoga tools and tips, and have fun playing at being a child again.

Ayurveda with Felicia Tomasko December 10 - December 12 She is the editor in chief of LA YOGA Ayurveda and Health magazine and serves on the board of directors of the California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine and the National Ayurvedic Medical Association. She writes regularly on health and well-being for a number of books, newspapers, magazines and websites. In addition to Yoga and Ayurveda, Felicia has worked in cognitive neuropsychology and plant biochemistry research and has degrees in nursing and environmental biology. Distilling the Teachings of Yoga with Chase Bossart January 21 - January 23 In this weekend, explore the teachings of the some of the powerful texts that inform our understanding and practice of Yoga including The Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, The Upanishads and the Vedas. Chase is an expert at distilling these important teachings to their essence, and opening new doors for students and teachers to have a deeper relationship to their personal practice and teaching.We are very excited to welcome Chase Bossart to Yoga Yoga. Chase is the Therapy and Education Director and Senior Yoga Therapist for the Healing Yoga Foundation in San Francisco. He is a long time, private student of Mr. TKV Desikachar and is a Krishnamacharya HYF certified Yoga Teacher Trainer. Chase has an M.A. in Religious Studies from UC Santa Barbara, where he wrote his thesis on Patanjali's Yogasutra, and he is also a faculty member for the Loyola Marymount University's Yoga Therapy Rx Program.
