Yoga Yoga welcomes back Felicia Tomasko for a weekend dedicated to the teachings of Ayurveda and taking these teachings into our daily lives and yoga practice.
Ayurveda- one of Yoga’s sister sciences- is a beautifully comprehensive healthcare system. Some say it is the oldest truly holistic heathcare system on the planet. Many of the principles of Ayurveda are surprisingly simple once you learn the language, shift your perspective and begin to view yourself (and the world) through its lens. The more you learn, the more Ayurveda becomes like an owners manual for the human body, mind and spirit.
Statistics show that every year, Americans collectively get less sleep. The more we learn about sleep, the more we realize its vital importance. Ayurveda's emphasis on rejuvenation reminds us of the necessity of quality sleep for restoration. In this class, we'll learn what constitutes “good” sleep and which components of your daily routine may be inviting the sandman home and which will be keeping him away. We'll discuss techniques, tools and helpful hints from Ayurveda and practice a sequence to bring with you to the bedroom.

Living in the modern world, we all have a certain amount of stress – to-do lists, work, families, technological demands and more. Learn about the physiology of stress and six simple Ayurvedic techniques to improve our resilience. This knowledge of Ayurveda can help you adapt yoga practices or yourself and your students. Includes lecture and applied practice.

In Ayurveda, our immune system is described as the intelligence of the body and stagnation as the enemy of good health. We need adequate circulation in order to release toxins and metabolic waste and to maintain the balance of fluid in the channels of the body. Learn about the simple daily practices that will help improve circulation in your lymphatic system and stimulate the activity of your immune system. We’ll also discuss and explore the benefits of a slow Yin style of yoga practice and experience how it helps encourages deep detoxification and circulation.
