Integrative Restoration iRest Yoga Nidra Training with Richard Miller, PhD

October 7, 2012 - October 12, 2012
at The Retreat at Balcones Springs

Yoga Yoga is proud to host Dr. Richard Miller for a 6 night, 5 day iRest Yoga Nidra training at the beautiful Balcones Springs Retreat Center in Marble Falls, TX. Participants will not only receive 42 hours of some of the most valuable Yoga training available, but also enjoy a 6 night life transforming personal retreat on 250 acres of lakeside Texas Hill Country.

Integrative Restoration, or iRest, is a profoundly transformative practice derived from the ancient meditation approach of Yoga Nidra (yoga = embodying what is timeless + nidra = across all states of consciousness) that leads to lasting psychological, physical and spiritual healing. iRest enables you to experience unshakeable peace, during even your most difficult times.

iRest is a non-dogmatic, non-religious, secular practice consisting of 30 to 40 minute sessions, where participants are guided through sequences that cover:

• Body sensitivity training

• Breath and energy awareness

• Systematic desensitization to neutralize:

• Negative body sensations and stress

• Negative feelings and emotions, and

• Negative beliefs, images and memories

• The experience of joy and well-being

• Freedom from the feeling of separation and suffering

• The ability to experience equanimity amidst the realization that everything in life is constantly changing

• The embodiment of pure awareness during every life circumstance

iRest teaches you to embody a skill that you can use throughout your life so that you may experience a sense of mastery and ease of being when encountering difficult situations, a sense of joy that pervades your everyday life, and the heartfelt experience of oneness that underlies all of life.

This training is suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners, and reveals Integrative Restoration Yoga Nidra as both a personal practice for transformation, health, healing and awakening, and as a tool for use with individuals and groups in yoga, psychotherapy, across various clinical, hospital, class and individual settings. Anticipate a dynamic learning environment that includes in-depth interactive dialogue and experiential sessions.

Evidence-Based Research Supporting iRest
Integrative Restoration as a tool for healing post-traumatic stress in war veterans is being studied at Walter Reed Army Hospital, among other sites around the US. These and other studies are assessing the efficacy of iRest for the treatment of various issues including PTSD, depression, anxiety, selfesteem, pain control, insomnia, and non-medically responsive illnesses. Richard Miller developed the iRest protocol, which is an adaptation of the ancient practice of Yoga Nidra. iRest is described in Richard’s book, Yoga Nidra: The Meditative Heart of Yoga (Sounds True).
