In this training, you will learn how to play the gong and explore its uses in meditation, therapy, and relaxation. We'll have several gongs to choose from and everyone will have an opportunity to play the gong and experience first-hand the techniques discussed in class. This class is excellent for teachers wanting to integrate the gong into their classes or anyone interested in learning more about this powerful and transformational instrument.

The first day will be an introduction to playing the gong with basic techniques and practical hands-on experience. Each student will have the opportunity to put into practice the gong playing techniques presented in the workshop and gain familiarity with several different types of gongs.

You will learn how to use the mallet, where and how to strike the gong, how to establish a rhythm, ways to create basic gong playing sequences and how to select and care for a gong.

On the second day of the training, you will develop your gong playing abilities and acquire the skills to fully enjoy the range of possibilities this unique instrument offers yoga teachers, therapists, and students of yoga and meditation.
Building upon your knowledge of the basics of playing a gong, we will delve deeper into the philosophy and techniques available to you. You will learn in detail about:

• Percussion points
• Stroking ratios
• Integrating the different playing areas of the gong
• Advanced mallet techniques
• Building sequences
• Crescendos and tremolos
• Frequency and loudness
• Intuitive playing

You will have plenty of time to practice and experiment with your new skills!

If you have your own gong, you are encouraged to bring it for your own dedicated use. We will also have a wide range of gongs available for everyone to enjoy and play.
