The ancient sages of India created the simple and practical metaphor of the five elements to help us understand and manage our lives. Samkhya’s 5 Element Theory, foundational to both Yoga & Ayurveda, uses the categories of space, wind, fire, water and earth to describe the qualities of everything in the world. By understanding these concepts and the way that they manifest in our own bodies and minds, we can deeply understand what is happening within ourselves as well as how to manage it.
Yoga & Ayurveda give us tools to become aware of, link to and transform our thoughts, moods and feelings on a moment to moment basis by a technology of managed connections. Whatever we connect to, and interact with, will influence how we feel, think and behave. For example, a cup of coffee impacts us differently than a cocktail and the mood of bluegrass is quite different than heavy metal! The same is also true for all of our practices. Different sounds, breathing techniques, visualizations and meditation techniques all have different qualities and hence different effects and applications.
Join Yogic Scholar, Chase Bossart and Ayurvedic Practitioner, Elizabeth Cunningham Bossart for a weekend that will illuminate these powerful teachings and offer practical applications in our daily lives and yoga practices.
The weekend will include lecture, guided practices and meditations, discussion and reflection. Bring a notebook! Chase and Elizabeth each bring their expertise in Yoga and Ayurveda respectively to make these topics practical, accessible and meaningful in our practice on and off the mat. Each session will include lecture, time for discussion and application as well as gentle led practices including movement, mantra, meditation and visualization.
All levels are welcome. No previous experience is necessary. We’ve specifically designed this weekend in a way that will allow the beginners to find the material as accessible and easy to understand as the experienced practitioners will find it rich and informative. So come join us!
