Caitlin

Caitlin grew up in a yoga-centric household, playing with sandbags in her father’s Iyengar-style studio, but she didn’t bring yoga into her own life until she was in college. After taking yoga classes for exercise for a while, Caitlin realized that she needed some source of sanity in her life. Yoga was there for her, and has been ever since.

Caitlin’s first experience practicing yoga on a regular basis was with a Seane Corn DVD, but it was in her first Ashtanga class that showed Caitlin the power of yoga. The structured breathing and the sequence gave her the opportunity to deeply relax. Despite being physically exhausted, she went further into her body in that class, and hasn’t looked back. In Yoga Yoga’s Hatha Teacher Training Caitlin refined the way she practices, and learned what sort of classes she wanted to teach. Caitlin likes to build her classes around a theme, keeping the asana uncomplicated, and incorporating time for relaxation and breathwork.

She is drawn to the Anusara tradition, and plans to complete the immersion with Christina Sell this year. Wherever her studies take her, Caitlin’s priority as a yoga teacher is to make space and time for students to fully experience and appreciate their bodies.

These days, Caitlin is having fun exploring the power of yoga to reveal and heal her mind and heart. ”At this point, my body seems to me to just be one big mirror of what's going on in my mind, and I feel like I'm constantly trying to figure out what's new and interesting there,” she said.

A native of Dallas, Caitlin came to Austin from New York, and has settled here quite happily. In her non-Yoga Yoga life she spends her time writing, devouring books, making cupcakes, spending too much money on brunch, and loving the Austin sunshine.
