Vinyasa Yoga Training with Kristen Folkens and Mary Richardson

Starts Saturday, October 14, 2017
Yoga Yoga North & Northwest

Have you thought about participating in a teacher training program?  Do you want to advance your asana practice or learn to  teach advanced postures in class?  Have you ever felt as if your physical asana practice has plateaued?

This 40 hour training is designed to help you more deeply explore your own asana practice as you learn to teach a more challenging vinyasa class.  We’ll meet over 4 immersive weekends and through group practice, teaching and study, you’ll learn the skills and gain the confidence to lead students through a vigorous vinyasa practice,  preparing your students to move safely into a variety of advanced postures.

Our Vinyasa training focusing on the building blocks of sequencing, giving you the tools and knowledge you need to create safe, fun and inspiring Vinyasa sequences for home practice, public classes and workshops!

'Practice is absolutely necessary. You may sit down and listen to me by the hour every day, but if you do not practice, you will not get one step farther. It all depends on practice. We never understand these things until we experience them. We have to see and feel them for ourselves. Simply listening to explanations and theories will not do.' - Vivekananda

In this training you will learn how to:

  • Learn how to sequence, with spontaneity, based on the student’s needs that day.
  • Teach more challenging and vigorous vinyasa classes including more advanced poses and inversions.
  • Incorporate pranayama and meditation into your teachings and your own practice.
  • Break down challenging poses to teach them effectively, while keeping the vinyasa style of class flowing.
  • Teach variations and modifications from beginner level to advanced level practitioners.
  • Use props to aid students in advancing their practice.
  • Teach with more confidence.
  • Assist more effectively – physically, verbally and mentally.
  • The foundational knowledge of Raja Yoga (8 Limbs of Yoga).
  • Deepen strategies for class theming.
  • Genuinely connect with and “read” students.
  • Develop your verbal & listening skills to help build trust in students.
  • Ensure students of all levels feel comfortable and successful in your class.
  • Teach with beginner and advanced practitioners in the same class.
  • Be both a yoga instructor and a career yoga teacher (business practices).

This training is open to graduates of a 200-hour Teacher Training program, and to eager and curious students wanting to take their vinyasa practice to the next level.

Prerequisites:
One year of steady flow-based practice at a yoga studio, or permission of the instructor.
