Yoga at Work Student Feature

Meet Oscar. Oscar is a US Education Scholarship Grant Officer at The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation has had a weekly lunchtime yoga class for over a year through our Yoga at Work program.

Yoga Yoga:
What do you like about having yoga at work?

Oscar:
I love being able to practice at work. This really helps me integrate yoga into all aspects of my life, as opposed to feeling like Yoga is something extra to do. Plus, it’s just great to be able to take that hour doing the work day to focus on myself and block out all of the hustle and bustle of work.

Yoga Yoga:
What benefits do you receive by doing yoga?

Oscar:
Yoga provides me a wonderful filter from which to experience life and its various relationships. Yoga helps me achieve a certain clarity and connection between my mental and physical self. I am better able to concentrate on tasks and have a more calm and thoughtful approach to dealing with challenges. I have also seen my overall fitness and strength improve through my practice.

Yoga Yoga in the Park - FREE
March 4 - March 25
Wednesdays, 12-1 PM

The Austin Parks Foundation, Downtown Austin Alliance, and Yoga Yoga have teamed up to bring downtown Austin free, outdoor yoga classes at Republic Square Park every Wednesday in March at noon. All ages and abilities are welcome!

Classes will be led by registered yoga teachers from Yoga Yoga. Republic Square Park is between 4th and 5th Streets on Guadalupe at 422 Guadalupe St.

This workshop will empower you to take control of you back health! This workshop will help you understand the effects of lifestyle and aging, and how to proactively preserve, maintain and improve your overall spinal health.

According to the National Institutes of Health, 80% of adults experience low back pain at some point in their lives. Yoga is a powerful tool to improve posture and create functional movement patterns as well as reduce the negative impact of our sedentary, desk and driving oriented lifestyle.
