I
am Super Mom!
There
was a new mom and baby in my postnatal class this Tuesday that hit me
with this mantra. This mom's baby was being a bit fussy, so she swaddled
baby and laid her down on the blanket. She was sleeping so peacefully
and looked so cozy. I complimented mama on knowing just what her baby
needed, and remarked at how beautifully she slept. Mama then told me her
baby really isn't a good sleeper, and it's times like this she feels
like Super Mom. She went on to say that she tries to remember times
like this during the more frustrating and non-Super Mom moments. We should
all do this!
So,
this month you have homework: Every day, write down one moment where you
were a Super-Mom. The first day or two might be tricky, but it will get
easier.
Bonus
points: Write down a moment you can be grateful for that had nothing to
do with your action, i.e. a moment or event that was a gift from God,
or from Grace, or from the Universe, etc. Be thankful to whomever you
talk to when your eyes are closed.
You
can put these in a personal journal, in your baby book, or on a scrap
of paper, but do it. Suddenly, your day will go from just getting
through, to struggling to choose which moment or moments you will
write down. When it gets tough to choose, then do three moments a day.
It may seem cheesy, but I speak from experience when I say it works! It's
called looking for the good, and you will see how much of
that good is your mothering.
So
good luck! And please, let me know how it goes, you Super Mom.
