Vata Season is Here!

Windy Vata SeasonAll body types, no matter what your natural Ayurvedic constitution (prakriti), are vulnerable to Vata derangement during the fall and winter seasons. It can be helpful to adjust your lifestyle to balance the Vata predominant in nature.

Like the cool, dry, and windy weather, the qualities of Vata dosha are cold, airy, dry, rough and are characteristic in the disorders associated with this time of year. Many people experience dry skin, stiff joints, digestive imbalances, an overactive mind and anxiety due to an excess of Vata.

In Ayurveda, we can create balance during this season by cultivating warm, soft, oily, moist, smooth, heavy and stable qualities within our food and lifestyle choices. Staying warm, grounded and hydrated is essential to balancing the Vata dosha and can be as easy as drinking warming liquids like our yogi tea.

Nutritionally, Vata can also be tamed by adding oils (like ghee), fully cooked vegetables, milk (dairy, soy, or almond), and grains to the diet. Vatas need to keep warm and oiled. Massage is also a wonderful way to soothe any dosha, so treat yourself to our special, Very Vata Balancing Treatment.

Read more tips to keep you grounded and balanced during Vata season.

Very Vata Balancing Treatment

Kansa Foot BowlOur Very Vata Balancing Treatment begins with body brushing to slough off dead skins cells and calm the central nervous system. With hot stones placed on your body, you will then receive a soothing full body massage with herbal infused aromatherapy oil; moisturizing and warming, this very effective oil is also very centering and grounding. The treatment also includes a warm oil scalp massage to nourish the scalp and hair, and ends with the kansa foot bowls to balance all three doshas. This treatment is valued at $135, but our discounted price is $119.

If your skin tends to get really dry during the change of season to the winter months, you could benefit from bringing balance to Vata through this highly moisturizing treatment. Relieve stress by grounding the mind and spirit and bring wellness into your life at Yoga Yoga’s 360 Wellness Spa.

Vata Season Lifestyle Tips
Slow Down!

Vatas need grounding. If your Vata dosha is out-of-balance, you my find yourself running around - both mentally and physically. One of the best things you can do for yourself is to slow down - or even stop. Meditation, a slow and gentle yoga practice, and mindful breathing (pranayama) are all wonderful for relieving anxiety and bringing about a calm and grounded disposition.

Try sitting down for regularly scheduled, mindful meals of cooked vegetables and grains, instead of a dry power bar while driving or working. Try for a solid, reliable schedule during this season - keeping last-minute appointments and errands to a minimum.

Remember, Vata is associated with air and ether and therefore, during Vata season, we need slow, steady actions to keep from flying away.
