about our Back Care Program for Chronic Back Pain
Back
pain is among the most common complaints of pain, according to a 2006
report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In
recent years, an increasing number of scientific research studies have
shown that yoga can be an effective treatment for low back pain.
In
applying the science of yoga through the Back Care Program for Chronic
Low Back Pain at Yoga Yoga, a three step approach for lifelong results
is used. It includes:
- Three
private sessions with your back care specialist to evaluate your condition,
assess your progress, and provide personalized support
- Personal
guidance to help you develop a self-care routine for lifelong results
- 12
weekly group classes taught by trained back care specialists
Through
weekly group classes, private sessions, and self-care, participants learn
how to care for their backs and relieve chronic low back pain. The 3-month
program, taught by back care specialists, is based upon the method used
in the scientific
research study "Comparing Yoga, Exercise, and a Self-Care Book
for Chronic Low Back Pain," which was published in the December 2005
edition of the Annals of Internal Medicine.
